Juki introduces at ITMA a range of new products in digital sewing and the software control system JaNets, an ideal solution for future oriented manufacturers

Juki is a Japanese multinational company established in 1938 to make household sewing machines, soon followed by industrial sewing machines: a field where it soon became a market leader with the continuous development of new technologies. In the last few years, the company developed an additional business concerning circuit board assembling robots.

Operating through Juki Central Europe, based in Warsaw, since 1987 Juki has been working in Italy from its branch, Juki Italia, based in Lainate (Milan).

Digital machines and software control systems

The middle to long-term strategy Juki has been pursuing in the last few years brought highly innovative products: sewing machines with full digital sewing parameter adjustment, no longer mechanically controlled.

Among the new products to be introduced at ITMA, let’s mention the top item of this range: the full digital DDL-9000C, that allows for easy adjustment of settings without changing the work station, hence obtaining high quality seams using different materials. All adjustments are digitalized and can be set with precision on the touch screen. The advantage is no machine stop for mechanical adjustments.
However, Juki did not only digitalize the machines; it aimed at a cross-connection of different workstations to allow manufacturers to increase their output.

As part of the “Simply Smart Solution” range, the new digital lockstitch, flat model type 301 DDL-8000A, speed 5000 s/min

In order to meet Industry 4.0 schemes and the demand for digitalization from the market, Juki developed a production control solution: JaNets (Juki Advanced Network System), a system combining software and cutting-edge digital equipment, to connect different workstations while monitoring online the progress of production. Customers who purchased it have already been able to check the resulting higher productivity and a better balance of work among different lines.

The same digital quality at a reasonable price

In the wake of the “digital” range’s great success, Juki launches a “Simply Smart Solution”: a new range of sewing machines for customers who require the high-end Juki quality, however at a reasonable price, thus giving up some functions. The range includes four models, all of them featuring a direct drive, hence saving up to 80% electric energy compared with the traditional drive. A display on board gives the operator number of information: e.g. on production details, automatically comparable with the input at job start, in order to assess online the reached level. A voice guide can transfer the details. All four models are equipped with a LED light with adjustable illuminance.

This class of machines includes DDL-8000A, the 301 lockstitch flat model, available in two versions: for medum to light weight materials and for heavy materials. The machine comes with feed dog, thread trimmer with double-edge driven rotary knife to ensure a minimum 3 mm cut length, and with a needle thread clam for a clean beginning of sewing. It also features automatic bar tacking and manual transfer inversion; automatic, motor driven presser foot lifter with max. 13 mm lift. Semi-dry lubrication with oil supplied only to the hook. Max. stitch length 5 mm; max. speed 5000 stitches/min.

On the other hand, LBH-1790S is a computer-controlled lockstitch button machine with a USB port control keyboard to input customized buttonholes. The serial models offer 31 buttonhole and buttonhole bar patterns, with up to 99 pattern programmes and 20 sequences of 20 buttonholes each. The presser foot is operated by a stepper motor, in order to ensure the right pressure to different materials; the thread trimmer comes with upper and lower scissors. The buttonhole “multiple cut” system is motor driven, thus preventing the knife replacement when the buttonhole size changes. The thread tension is digitally set and adjusted through a magnet. The serial presser foot allows to make eyelet buttonholes with 6.4 to 19.1 mm cutting length, whereas optional presser foots obtain up to 31.8mm cuts. Max. speed 4,200 stitches/min.

The third model is LK-1900S, a computer controlled, lockstitch bartacking machine with USB port control keyboard to input customized buttonhole bars. You can select the 51 buttonhole bars stored and add some additional 150 bars of different size and customize them to recall max. 50 bars. You can even set 99 sewing cycles with max. 99 programmes per cycle. Max. sewing area 40×30 mm with automatic thread trimmer and scrapping, complete with 27×5 mm presser foot for heavy fabrics and jeans fabrics. Thread tension adjusted by hand. Speed adjustable to 3,200 p/min.

Last but not least in the range comes the computer-controlled, high speed, lockstitch button machine LK-1903S with keyboard control, USB port to input customized programmes. The machine features clamps for 8-20 mm diameter and 2 mm thick buttons, automatic threat trim and thread wiper. The thread tension is adjustable by hand. 50 standard pattern, additional 150 pattern can be stored in the memory. Up to 50 different bar-tacking patterns may be called up; 99 different cycle sewing patterns with max. 99 programmes per cycle can be planned. Adjustable speed to max. 2700 s/min.
