Among the various proposals of Stäubli for weaving processing, at ITMA stands out the new SAFIR S60 automatic threading system and the LXXL jacquard loom for upholstery fabrics

Stäubli is a Swiss multinational company active in the field of mechatronic supplies in three sectors: connectors, robotics and textiles. Initially founded in 1892 as a small workshop in Horgen, in the canton of Zurich, today the company is an international group that offers innovative solutions to many industrial sectors and employs a global workforce of over 5,000 people.

With critical competencies in shedding (cam motions, dobbies and Jacquard machines) and weaving preparation (drawing-in, leasing, and warp-tying machines), Stäubli plays an essential role in the design and quality of fabric production. With over a century of experience in the traditional Textile Industry and thanks to its continuous Research and Development activities, the Swiss company constantly offers new and improved and high-performance systems and solutions for processing fabrics for Fashion, home textiles, automotive, safety fabrics, carpeting and highly complex technical fabrics.

Efficiency and longevity

At this year’s Barcelona ITMA, Stäubli will be showing a selection of its latest products in its full range. Many machines will be displayed working in two separate booths: those dedicated to weaving will be in Hall 4 – Stand C201, knitting solutions will instead be in Hall 8.1 – Stand B212.
«Visitors to the booths will be able to see how Stäubli solutions can improve performance and overall mill efficiency» the Stäubli press office says. «In addition to offering many functional advantages, the machines guarantee maximum life span, making them a safe investment».

Weaving solutions

Among the exhibited machinery there will be the SAFIR S60 automatic drawing system with active warp control. It is part of the SAFIR drawing-in systems family that offers unique advantages thanks to the AWC (Active Warp Control) function, the exclusive yarn-repeat management system developed by Stäubli. Visitors to the booth will, therefore, be able to directly see how the precision of this technology leads to top quality production, supports on-time delivery and increases the overall productivity of the weaving department.

As for frame weaving, Stäubli solutions are renowned for the reliability of high-speed weaving and adaptability to any application or weaving machine. The wide range includes the well-known 1600/1700 series of cam motions and the S3000/S3200 series of electronic rotary dobbies. At ITMA Stäubli will present many solutions, including a new cam machines with ten levers in combination with the new e32/e33 harness motion for even higher performance: a symbol of the continuous research and development that the Swiss company carries on for maintaining consistently high quality and efficiency standards in line with market demand and customer needs.

The D4S is a fully automatic toe-linking device for sock knitting machine

Regarding the jacquard sector, three complete installations will be exhibited at the fair, including the LXXL model, in the 20,480-hooks format, for weaving dense upholstery fabrics. The LXXL machine boasts a large format (up to 25,600 hooks or 51,200 hooks in a tandem installation), completing the machines range of LX/LXL series for flat, terry and velvet fabrics. All the machines of this series are equipped with lifting motions that ensure precise shedding geometry and absolutely vibration-free movement even at high speeds. The optimally coordinated kinematics of all moving parts within the machines and the directly mounted components, such as the drives, allow the routine weaving of weighty fabrics.
Stäubli has also recently developed a revolutionary electronic concept that perfectly integrates the constraints of high-speed weaving and the significant number of hooks to be lifted. At this year’s ITMA, visitors will learn about the functional principle of this concept and discover how it enhances the reliability and longevity of the LX/LXL/LXXL machines.

The wide range of Stäubli Jacquard solutions also includes the LX12/32/62 models for the production of narrow fabrics such as ribbons and labels. These machines are versatile, easy to adapt and allow optimal location in relation to the perforation board, which improves the quality of tight fabrics. Available for all types of needle looms, this series allows high-speed weaving and promises long-lasting performance.
A carpet weaving machine, the ALPHA 500, will be on display to reveal flexibility in binding variety while weaving a wide selection of carpets with exclusive effects.

News for the knitting industry

In the booth focused on knitting, Stäubli will show two circular sock-knitting machines in operation, featuring the 2900SL controller and the D4S automatic toe-closing device. This revolutionary device drastically reduces sock manufacturing time whilst perfectly closing the sock with a smooth seam.

«With its two booths – concludes the press office – Stäubli offers a complete overview of its range of future-oriented weaving mills and sock knitters, fully in line with the company’s commitment to remain in close contact with customers and fulfil market requirements as a partner. Our experts will be happy to welcome visitors at their stands and discuss their individual needs and wishes for cost-effective and high-productivity textile manufacturing».
