It is only the last kind of research which Tecnomeccanica Biellese is dealing with. Other researches deal with a project, also in European funding, aimed at recovering energy from waste of textile industry exploiting the principle of gasification rather than combustion. In this case, the company from Biella is responsible for the preparation of fuel storage and its dosed introduction into the reactor, but Tecnomeccanica has a frontrunner role in another interesting community project named Woolres, (Wool Recycles Eco System) in collaboration with Politecnico of Torino and other specialized companies of the nautical sector. The aim is to be able to use greasy wool to decontaminate hydrocarbons-polluted sea water. After the first phase in last June, now the two-year project has entered its second phase, which will end in June 2014. During the first phase of the project, – explains Mario Ploner – we faced various problems and solved them by putting up a set of prototypes for fiber distribution on the water surface, for its immersion up to total soaking and for the confinement of the absorption area and the recovery of wool from the sea. Now we are working on a prototype capable of “squeezing” it to be able to reuse it. Once we have passed this last technological barrier, we will build and put into operation a final demonstration prototype that will contain all developed technologies.
