A Priority in Horizon 2020

francoWith a written parliamentary question, the French MEP Gaston Franco (European People’s Party) member of the European Parliament committee for Industry, Research and Energy, called the European Commission to make smart textiles one of its priorities in the Horizon 2020 programme, in order  to develop the competitiveness of the European Union. Mr Franco took the example  of the Easy IMP project, funded under FP7, which aims at «developing methodologies, tools and platforms for the design and production of personalized meta-products (product/services), combining wearable sensors embedded into garment with mobile and cloud computing».

After having presented the last developments of textile innovations in the field of health, the MEP also asked the European Commission about the nature of the specific support it intends to grant to research on smart textiles in the field of health, which is also one of the strategic fields identified by the Textile2020.
