Established in Norway in 1946, Odlo designs, produces and retails technical sportswear. Now headquartered in Switzerland, the brand is sold in 25 countries and 4,500 points of sale worldwide, including 36 of its own stores, as well as 14 outlet stores. Odlo had already built a strong reputation for quality, high-performance clothing, and now it wanted to expand its consumer base and target a more performance-oriented consumer.
After consulting with Lectra experts, Odlo adopted patternmaking solution Modaris 3D for its product development department. The solution’s 3D prototyping technology reduced the number of physical samples and fittings required to develop new products. It also improved communication and reduced misunderstandings between Odlo’s teams in Switzerland and Portugal, since everybody could now refer to and work from the same image in real time. “With Modaris 3D, we are clearly more efficient; once the solution has been fully integrated, we will save a great deal of time in prototyping and we also save money,” attests Ulrike Froitzheim, Team Leader, Quality Management & Projects for Odlo.
Odlo wanted a technology partner that not only understood the needs of the sportswear market, but could help the company improve its way of working without disrupting its current operation. The company worked with Lectra experts to identify its short and long-term goals; decide on what needed to change and the best way to get everybody up to speed without interrupting its activity; and create a sustainable action plan that would stand the test of time. “To face the challenges of today’s market, you need to have the best partners,” concludes Paiva. “Lectra has been indispensable in increasing our speed to market. I see a long relationship between us in the future.”
