Sweden finds new method to treat textile dye discharge
Scientists at the Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Sweden, announced they have developed a new method to purify contaminated water using cellulose-based crystals which they say could reduce toxic dye discharge in the textile industry.

Enzymes succesfully separate fibres blends at NCSU
Researchers at North Carolina State University are using enzymes to separate cotton and polyester from blended fabrics in a process which could contribute to reducing textile waste. A cocktail of enzymes in a mildly acidic solution is being applied to draw out the cellulose from the blended woven structure, leaving clean polyester.
