Sustainability online searches have been on a rise as a growing number of consumers is becoming more and more interest in sustainable fashion, according to a report by global fashion search platform Lyst.
Since 2018 Lyst saw a 66% increase in searches for sustainable fashion, with searches for terms such as vegan leather increasing by 119%, sustainable denim by 187% and organic cotton increased 16% year-over-year.
During the past year the company tracked over 100 million searches in order to explore the effects of the currently ongoing conversation about sustainability on the fashion world. The final reported the rise of a “new wave of eco-consciousness”.
The company said that their recent data revealed how the reported rise in sustainability online searches has been pushing us to do better, both at an individual and societal level. As a result, Lyst expects the fashion industry to begin to invest more in eco-friendly production methods, making it easier for consumers to purchase sustainably. The company predicts also that by 2020, 10% of all fashion purchases on Lyst will be made with sustainability in mind.
