cucitoGerman manufacturers of sewing and garment technology can look back on an extremely successful year of 2014. Order books were up by 20 percent in real terms compared with the previous year, and sales revenues, too, rose by 19 percent in real terms. Exports likewise rose by 6 percent, from 466 million Euros in 2013 to 494 million euros last year. The most important export markets for German sewing and garment technology were the USA, China and Italy. The outlook for 2015 is positive, too. «Once again, over the first few months of 2015, German manufacturers of sewing and garment technology recorded a rise in sales revenues of 20.5 percent in real terms – and that was in comparison with an excellent previous year», stated Elgar Straub, Managing Director of VDMA Garment and Leather Technology at the press conference for Texprocess on 29 April in Frankfurt. Only incoming orders over the first three months of the current year had shown a small fall of 2.9 percent in real terms, though that figure was based on a high comparative level of the previous year.
